In Spite Of It All
How do you love those with the love of Jesus that make it a goal of theirs to cause you harm mentally, emotionally and physically? How do you turn the other cheek and see them through the lens of Jesus Christ? How do you forgive after you know someone deliberately hurt you? How do you move on with your life after the heartbreak? JESUS! Yes, J.E.S.U.S. He has a way of putting all of the broken pieces back together in a way where the brokenness that once was, is now unrecognizable and non-existent. God has called us to live a life outside of what is seen as the norm. He has called His children to RISE UP and BE who HE created us to be. We are not meant to live a life of merely getting by and aimlessly watching the time pass. NO, we are here to MAKE A DIFFERENCE and BE A LIGHT in even the most unfamiliar situations that we ourselves may think serve of no great significance. In Ephesians, Paul writes about walking away from your former lifestyle and living a new life in Christ. Ephesians 4:22 “You took off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires; you are being renewed in the spirit of your minds; you put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.”
God also calls us to walk in love and yes it’s not easy at all. It can be quite challenging especially when people are smiling in your face; all the while looking for a soft spot to land the dagger BUT GOD has called us to LOVE LIKE HE LOVES, to see people the way He sees them and to not be like those that are of the world. Don’t allow your mind to focus on the schemes of others because God will always have your best interest at heart and will use the traps set by others to cause them to fall. Sometimes I think about the times when I harbored un-forgiveness and bitterness. I was convinced and could only see the truth being that I was wronged and I couldn’t wrap my mind around the word “forgiveness.” I didn’t see why I should forgive or where to even start IF I CHOSE TO FORGIVE. THEN IT HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS! How could I not forgive them when time and time again, I’ve messed up, I’ve broken God’s heart, I’ve rejected His love when I was unable to see that He was with me, for me and has an undeniable love for me. How could I harbor un-forgiveness when God has called us to love like He loves? Even when it comes to those that have done us wrong, to forgive them like our Father in Heaven forgives us time and time again.
The Holy Spirit quickly reminded me that He gives us FREE WILL and it’s a CHOICE for us to forgive; to forgive others as well as forgiving ourselves. In spite of it all, I’ve realized that we’re all in a different place on this journey called life and some are farther along than others but that in no way justifies us having a stubborn, disobedient spirit and choosing not to forgive or have a self-righteous attitude. In spite of it all, God has shown me that no matter who you are, He’s given us ALL a platform to not be perfect but to be an example…A light and that there is no gain in bitterness and un-forgiveness; it is cancerous and will in turn be a roadblock to the blessings that God has for you. Whatever it is that you may be facing on today, know that there’s only one true answer and that is JESUS CHRIST. I encourage you to SEEK HIS FACE, SEEK HIS PRESENCE and whatever you may be carrying, give it completely to HIM.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, there is freedom). And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the Glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of Glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” ~2 Corinthians 3:17-18
