What’s This Life Really About?

This is a piece that I wrote over 6 years ago..I hope it encourages someone.

To some this is a question and to others it’s an answer. For me, years ago it was a question. Living my life how others wanted it to be and all the while being unhappy because I was worried about everyone else’s happiness. I guess you could say their approval as well. I am sure there are many who go through this in life and some never realize what this precious gift is truly about. When happiness will come their way. Struggle after struggle after storm that leaves them dizzy with no sense of direction no matter how hard they try to focus. It’s unfortunate how some people leave this earth and never realize the answer to life and its true meaning. What’s this life really about? Seeing everything in a whole new way. Having that thirst, that hunger, passion, unfailing love and forgiveness.

Some of us get so caught up in the world and all it has to offer, that we lose our focus in life and the real reason why we are put here. So many things have occurred in all of our lives and it’s literally up to us to WAKE UP, LET SOME THINGS/PEOPLE GO and do this thing right!! Living a life pleasing to God. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy and every day will be a sun shinny day. You will have your tests and obstacles that you must overcome and that will only make you stronger in your faith than you were before. But it’s taking it one day at a time that matters. Wake up knowing that you’re still alive and for that alone you should be thankful. You still being here means that your work is not finished. There are still greater things in store for you! So many people live with their hands out to the world, trying to benefit from others instead of making it their focus to be a blessing. So many people live for praise of their peers. It’s NOT ABOUT THAT!! What can you do for someone else; whether that is giving in prayers, encouragement, motivation or even a hug? Something as simple as a smile just might make someone’s day. Giving not expecting a stroking of the ego or material things is the RIGHT way to give.

My reality is…How drastically things can and will change from one day to the next. But one thing is for sure; God is consistent and NEVER changes. Life still moves on with or without you. So why take the blessings God has given you and the people He’s put in your life for granted? Why live a life struggling to keep up with everyone else just so you can fit in? You’re searching for that love, peace of mind, contentment for a lifetime through people and things but in the end it will leave you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually drained? This life is about seeing life and people through God’s eyes. Building each other up and not tearing one another down. It’s about searching, finding and keeping an intimate relationship with God. The thirst and hunger I was talking about earlier? That’s about God. Being thirsty for His Word, hungry for a relationship with him that continues to grow each and every day. Many people ask me what I stand for. Where am I headed in life? Well; I stand for God, His Kingdom and His promises. Through prayer and faith I’m headed wherever He takes me. I got tired a long time ago from running from God and His purpose for my life. When I say running I was going about 150 mph, blindfolded AND had my hands over my ears!! That’s not the way guys! Stop going against the grain! There is a parable in the bible called The Parable of the Lost Son comes from Luke 15:11-31.

It’s about a man who had two sons and the younger son asked for his share of the estate. The father divided the property between them and not too long after that the younger son got everything he had, set off to a distant country and spent all his money on wild living. After he had spent everything there was a severe famine (a severe shortage of food resulting in hunger and starvation) in that whole country and the son began to be in need. The son went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country who sent him to his fields to feed his pigs. The son longed to fill his stomach with the scraps that the pigs were eating but no one gave him anything. When he came to his senses, he said how many of my fathers hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! So the young man decided to set out and go back to his father and say to him “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.” So he got up and went to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. The son said to his father, “Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” But the father said to his servants, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. FOR THIS SON OF MINE WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE AGAIN; HE WAS LOST AND IS FOUND.”

Don’t you get it! God is just waiting for you to stop running and for you to give Him your all. This is a POWERFUL story with a POWERFUL meaning. You don’t have to be buried 6 feet under to be dead. Living a life that is headed for destruction when you could be living your life for God and have eternal life. So I ask, who is willing to let those things and people go? Give yourself to God, surrender your all, let go of the stirring wheel and trust God as your driver. He’s got this!! He loves you and only wants the best for you. SO WALK IN FAITH AND TRUST GOD KNOWING THAT HIS PLANS FOR YOU ARE FAR GREATER THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE!!
